Trashy Lit Review: My Hero, the Hooker, part 1

Here’s what I’ve been hiding inside my trusty copy of The Economist….

Forget those truly tacky books like The Rules! Ladies, if you’re looking for a way to better manage your man, I have two words: Nancy Chan.
No, that’s not Nancy Chan, PhD or MFCC, it’s Nancy Chan, HCH (High Class Hooker, if you will). And she’s taught me more about man-ipulation than anyone with or without more conventional letters following his or her name.

In fact, I’ve learned so much from her that I find myself wanting to discuss her with everyone, including my clients! (“While I’m showing you my CAD drawing of your son’s proposed bedroom, let’s talk prostitution!”) If only!
I’m beginning to fear that I identify waaay too much with N.C., because I find myself wanting to call her up for advice. She’s somehow managed to take the ick-factor out of prostitution, replacing it with a sense of awe (how could anyone have sex with fat, balding, hairy-chested, let alone pretend to find him sexy?)

Herein lies the essence of why I find her so amazing: she operates in total mind-over-matter mode. She rules her emotions, instead of being ruled by them. Kind of like a guy…

Perhaps one must think like a guy in order to properly manage one?
